Frequently asked questions
If I undertake a medical consultation, what regions can you provide information and travel advice about?
The hub.health pre-travel consultation can provide information for travellers going to these international regions:
- Asia
- Africa
- Central America & Mexico
- Europe
- North & South America
- Middle East
What is a pre-travel consultation?
The hub.health pre-travel consultation is designed to connect you with one of our knowledgeable medical practitioners so you can discuss your upcoming trip in detail and explore how you can make your journey a safe and healthy one. You will discuss your current health and medical history, destinations and travel itinerary to develop a plan for your trip. You can address any health concerns, discuss necessary vaccinations, and have preventive measures suggested to minimise the risk of travel-related illnesses.
Can you offer recommendations regarding vaccinations & immunisations?
Yes. We will work with you to explore risks associated with the various destinations on your itinerary. We can offer advice and recommendations for a range of travel vaccinations, helping you to stay informed on how to protect yourself against diseases prevalent in different parts of the world. We can provide information for routine vaccines like tetanus and hepatitis A/B to specialised ones such as yellow fever depending on your travel destination.
Do you offer travel letters?
Yes. If you’re travelling overseas, the TGA recommends you carry a letter from your doctor detailing any prescription medicines you are taking with you. This will include the name of the medicine, how much you are taking and state that it is for your personal use only. If you’re carrying associated but unprescribed medicines, you can ask the doctor to include these in the letter. Where possible, it is best to carry a letter from your doctor along with your labelled prescriptions.
Do you offer prescriptions and medications?
Yes. If you require prescription medications for ongoing conditions, we can help ensure you have an adequate supply to last throughout your trip. Our medical team will review your existing prescriptions, provide additional prescriptions for your regularly prescribed medicines if needed, and offer guidance on managing your health while away from home.
Do you cover other areas?
We provide our patients with a range of other advice and medical support to cover a range of health concerns – be sure to ask during your appointment.
Does consulting with you mean I don't need to see my usual doctor before I travel overseas?
Our consultation with you is preliminary only, and you may still need to consult with your regular doctor.
Do you assess my existing medical conditions for travel insurance?
No, this is something best discussed with your usual doctor as they will have your full medical history.
Can you provide me with a 'Fit to Travel’ letter?
No, this is something best discussed with your usual doctor as they will have your full medical history.
Do you share my consultation details with nib Travel Insurance?
No, your consultation with us is confidential, and we will not share your clinical or personal information with nib Travel. We may share de-identified data such as survey results or number of eligible customer consultations with nib Travel.
