What causes rosacea?

Research has identified commonalities amongst rosacea patients, pointing to genetic traits, environmental influences and an overactive immune system as contributing factors.

Can rosacea appear anywhere on the body?

Rosacea is an inflammatory condition that exclusively affects the face. However, in some cases people may experience symptoms on their ears, eyes, neck, upper back, and chest.

How is rosacea treated?

Since the symptoms of rosacea vary for each person, personalised treatment must be prescribed by a medical professional on a case-by-case basis. Depending on severity of symptoms, a range of oral and topical medications can be used to treat redness and control flare ups. Long-term anti-inflammatory therapy may be prescribed to maintain remission. Laser therapies and lifestyle modifications may also be recommended.
